We All Need To Be In This Together

Black Lives Matter, a movement put into action the day George Floyd died. George

Floyd was a man that was murdered by former police officer Derek Chauvin. George

Floyd repeatedly stated he couldn’t breath because of the officer who constricted his

airway. However, nothing was done to help him and this eventually was the cause of his

death. I was displeased and astonished that a person who stated under oath he would

protect humanity did this horrifying action, and many others were rightfully outraged by

this and decided it was time to stand up. Over the course of months many protests were

held all over the world by thousands of people pleading for change. Although the Black

Lives Matter movement occurred recently the issue of racial segregation has been

occuring for decades. Famous activist Martin Luther King Jr. spoke and asked for

change back in 1963 when his famous speech “I Have a Dream” opened many hearts.

Everyone all over the world sent support through social media, protests, and petitions.

Influences and celebrities also gave their support by informing everyone and asking

everyone to give their time to help make an amazing change in the world. George Floyd

was one of the many who were taken to soon, and his death was completely avoidable

and horrible. Considering the fact a man had to die for an incredibly important message

to pass through we have to seize this opportunity and use it to make everyone equally

as free and safe as one another. Hopefully, this message is heard and hopefully all

people change their ways so everyone can be treated equally because we are all

human. We all need to be in this together to help our fellow neighbor.

“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its

creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”

-Martin Luther King Jr. “I Have a Dream”
